Reviews of Princelings books

The Princelings of the East and The Traveler in Black and White have both had a number of new reviews in the past few weeks.  I’m extremely grateful to everyone who has taken the time to do so.  Most of these reviews are on Goodreads and Amazon.com, and some on the reviewers’ own blogs.

Julie Grasso, Stanley & Kristina’s Cool Mom, and Miriam King have reviewed The Princelings of the East, all with 5 of 5 stars!  I’m working on a new edition of this book – adding appendices to respond to a comment about the number of characters to keep track of (a Who’s Who) and also to put in some photos of Fred and George, maybe as a biographical note.  Also it seems settled that my vocabulary choices put the books at 10 and upwards for reading ages.  I’m very grateful for these pointers.

Alexandra Lanc and S W Lothian have both reviewed Traveler and given it 4 stars on Goodreads, although SW gave it 5 on Amazon.  I need to go through Hugo-Mariusz’s speech patterns as there was a comment about him slipping into British English.  The trouble, of course, is that my Hugo spoke British English whereas Mariusz definitely was a Noo Yorker!  He might lapse into local speech patterns when he’s in the Realms, but would he?  Did anyone think of him as a foreigner or someone that “spoke funny”?  I’ll have to think about it some more.  I also need to pay even more attention to this when I’m doing the short stories based in Hattan.

To see the Goodreads reviews, you have to be a member of Goodreads.  Just search on my author name and you’ll see all the books, and you can click them to read the reviews.

It’s thrilling to get reviews.  I hope people go on to read and review Pirates and Lost City and I dare say they will in time.  Lost City is still my favourite.  Well, until the next one comes along!  Of course it makes sense to get people to start with Princelings – or perhaps the later ones as stand-alones.  Although I am hoping to send the Trilogy to some well-respected review sites, so maybe that’ll boost Pirates and Lost City!

Don’t forget to keep an eye on the blog for some new short stories and extracts from the Princelings’ world during the April A to Z Challenge – and enter the Giveaway!
