Traveler entered for Shelf book awards

Traveler - original cover

The Traveler in Black and White has been entered for the Shelf Media Group’s Independently Published Book Award 2014.  Five winners will be featured in the January edition of Shelf Unbound.  There is no need to enter it in any category, so that decision leaves it being judged for itself, I think, rather than being judged against others in its category – which I can never decide.

Entries close 1st October and we should hear the outcome in November.

Bravo Victor was not selected as a finalist in any of the competitions it was entered for, although I think it should have at least made the cut for illustrations.  Maybe I’m biased.

If you haven’t entered the September for Sequels Giveaway yet, you’ve got about 24 hours to do so.  You could win one of these sparkling ebooks!

Traveler ebooks updated

When I put together the paperback edition of The Traveler in Black and White I added a Cast of Characters, updated the picture of Castle Buckmore, and made about six or seven minor editing changes.

I remember changing ‘leave’ to ‘leaving’, adding or subtracting a few commas, replacing Spain with Iberia, since I used Iberia as a better country name in the Mariusz & Rajah short story.  On the whole I’ve tried not to use proper country names in the stories, or place names either, although a good map or atlas will identify where I mean!  For some inexplicable reason the second to last paragraph of the book had half a dozen double full stops in it. . Like that.  I have no idea why, but they are there no longer!

You can update your ecopy of Traveler by synching with your Amazon site (I think – check Kindle help if necessary) or if you got it from Smashwords you can update to the new edition if you go to the book page there and choose ‘download’.

If you are planning to buy it from one of the other online stores, it may take a few weeks to be applied, as the stores do their own checks once a new file is received.  Check the preview feature to ensure it is edition 1.3.  There was no 1.2 in the Smashwords version, but it was too confusing to have the same content in different edition numbers for Kindle and Smashwords.

Traveler in a Goodreads Giveaway

Traveler - original cover

The Traveler in Black and White is out in paperback!

Available on

Amazon worldwide

Createspace

It’s 190 pages, complete with illustrations.  Just like the ebook, in fact, but in a book, with real turnable pages, the same size as the Trilogy (and also the Harry Potter UK paperback books!),

NOT ONLY THAT but if you buy the paperback on Amazon.com, you can download the ebook FREE.  I’m not sure whether that is only for .com people or whether it goes through to other sites like .co.uk as well.  This is a new programme from Amazon called Matchbook, and this is my first use of the system.

The book also has a Cast of Characters at the front (paperback and coming soon to the ebook).

To celebrate the launch I’m giving two copies away in a Goodreads Giveaway!  (you need to be signed in to participate).

Exciting news – a new paperback!

Traveler - original cover

I’m bringing out a new paperback book in October!  The Traveler in Black and White has been set up for paperback distribution via Createspace, and I’m waiting for the proof copy to arrive from the USA.  Sometimes they can get held up in Customs.  I had a batch of Trilogies go missing last winter; eventually turned up three months later.  I think just one book shouldn’t have a problem though.

It came in at 190 pages, set in a slightly larger typeface than the Trilogy.  I think if I went larger with that it would be both unwieldy and very costly.  Traveler will probably retail at about $8 in the USA and £5 in UK.  Something like that, anyway.

I’ll be working on a paperback of Talent Seekers in due course. I don’t know whether that or the editing of Victor’s story will take priority, since I’m also working on my Dad’s biography.  Watch this space!
